La Liga Transfer News: Barcelona could go for Arsenal’s Ozil, Real Madrid at war over Bale | Football
Barcelona could try and sign Arsenal star Mesut Ozil if they do not land Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho.
Ernesto Valverde wants Coutinho to spice up his ageing midfield for next season, but Jurgen Klopp is refusing to let the Brazilian move to Anfield.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon says they may go for Ozil instead.
They are supposedly willing to pay Arsenal a huge £53million for the Germany international, whose contract expires next year.
Barcelona also want the 28-year-old because they feel it would not sit well with Real Madrid fans.
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and club president Florentino Perez are disagreeing over Gareth Bale’s future.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, who say both men have differing thoughts over the Wales international.
Zidane is happy to let him go but Perez, the club president, wants him to stay.
If Perez got his way, then Bale would stay and Karim Benzema would be shown the door.
But Zidane is an admirer of Benzema and would rather keep the former Lyon hitman at the club.
Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has outlined his desire to bow out with Diego Simeone’s side.
“This is where I feel genuinely happy,” he said.
“I am at home. I came back to Atlético after eight years and this is where I feel genuinely happy.
“My desire is to play for Atletico and retire here while also winning trophies and helping the club to continue to be one of the best in Europe.
“That is the only option I have in my head at the moment.”
